GOLA GONG: THE WORLD HOME

Di Rumah Dunia, menggambar adalah kegiatan yang sangat digemari anak-anak. Namanya “wisata lakon”. Setiap Kamis, pukul 14.00. WIB. Tutornya Indra Kesuma, guru kesenian SMA Al-Azhar Serang. Alat-alat gambar disediakan Rumah Dunia. Prestasi anak-anak Rumah Dunia lumayanlah, walaupun tidak luar biasa. Pernah karya-karya mereka dipamerkan. Tapi, wisata gambar tujuannya memang bukan untuk orientasi lomba, tapi sekedar membahagiakan mereka serta mewadahi ekspresi mereka. Jika ada yang ingin menyumbang ke Rumah Dunia, crayon bekas juga tidak apa-apa, kami sangat senang sekali. Ditunggu partisipasinya.

Since young, GG had an obsession around the world. He wanted to know manything. He make a liften by a truck or train along Java-Bali (1981) for a few weeks, and the next year around Indonesia, didn’t care he had just one hand. Sometimes, the driver offered him to sit in the front, but GG was a real bagpacker and rather prefer sitting between other passangers in back of truck, talking to another. Di Thailand, semuanya serba dibisniskan. Dunia pariwisata mendatangkan banyak uang bagi mereka. Sekecil apapun, yang berbau kebudayaan atau tradisi dikemas dan jadi daya tarik bagi turis mancanegara. Seperti di foto ini, GG berpose bersama suku Padhong alias Long Neck. Lokasinya di Segi Tiga Emas, perbatasan Tahiland – Myanmar, Thailand Utara. Dengan membayar sekian ratus ribu rupiah, kita diajak berpetualang menembus hutan dan perbatasan Myanmar; berjalan kaki dan menyusuri sungai. Mirip dengan berpetualang menyusuri Kanekes menuju suku Baduy, di Banten Selatan. Lihatlah sekarang, ketika GG sakit pengapuran di leher. Ketika memakai collart neck, mirip juga dengan suku Long neck, ya!

Naming of Rumah Dunia refer to everyone came to Rumah Dunia can see the whole world through the books, drawing, theatre, film, and internet right now. It’s like the story of Greek’s Mithology , named Sysiphus who pulling out the stone up to hill by hiself. On 2003 Gola Gong published his novels; Kupu-kupu Pelangi (Rainbow’s Buterfly) by Dar! Mizan, Bandung and Al-Bahri (Asy Syaamil), Aku Seorang Kapiten (I am a Captain, Al-Kautsar). Also he wrote novels with his beloved wife; Tias Tatanka. The novels are “Mimpi Sauni” (Sauni’s Dream) and “Hari-hari Angga” (Angga’s Days). Al Bahri and Balada Si Roy (Ballad of Roy, Gramedia/Beranda Hikmah) are produced as TV Series by Indika Entertainment. Al Bahri presented on TV 7 (now Trans 7). Whereas Balada Si Roy is presented in Malaysia as “Campuss Idol”. With the money he got, he bought 500 square meters in front of Rumah Dunia’s first step land, so the width became 1000 square meters. That’s why Gola Gong wrote a epigraph : “(1996-2001) My home is the house of the world, being built with the words”. In this picture, Uncle Maryani is putting on the bricks at the new land (2003).

House of The World (Rumah Dunia) goes public on 2005 March 3^rd. Look, in the beginning is just a back yard around 500 metres square. Gola Gong bought from his novel royalties, such as: Balada Si Roy, Pada-Mu Aku Bersimpuh, Biarkan Aku Jadi Milik-Mu, and Tempatku di Sisi-Mu (Dar! Mizan Publishin, 2002). And then being produced as TV series by Indika Entertainment production house and presented on RCTI TV (2001), TPI TV (2003), LaTivi (2004), and TV Malaysia (2007). We built The House of The world for developing new civilization in Banten,  who has taste of arts and loves books (reading habit). This is part of our fight for mind development and form new generations with journalistic, arts, lecture, film, theatre, drawings, and music. We used accelerated learning methode (Dave Meire and Paolo Freire) and multiple intelligence (Howard Gardner). We are inspired by Rabindranath Tagore (Santiniketan, Ashram, India) and Ki hajar Dewantoro (Taman Siswa, Yogyakarta, Central Java).

Bella and her mother; Tias  Tatanka. They were launched novel ‘Beautiful Days”  by Bella (Dar! Mizan) at Rumah Dunia, 2007  Februari 10th. Bella wrote the novel when she was 7 years old. She wrote the novel arround 1 year; during  Februari 2005 to Maret 2006. The second her novel; It’s My Bedroom just finished. Ok, we will wait!
